Hi All,

We are both going to be running the Tokyo Marathon on 5th March 2023 - our 5th of the 6 world marathon majors!

Mayur will also be running the London marathon on 23rd April 2023. (It was a good idea at the time 😳)

We have decided to raise money for a fantastic charity - Myeloma UK

Everyone  who knows us knows that we are both keen marathon runners. As part of this we thought it would be amazing to combine something we love with helping support the charity to raise funds for the great work it does. From researching groundbreaking medicines right through to patient care.

It never really hits home until something like this impacts you directly. In 2020 someone close to Mayur was diagnosed with multiple Myeloma. Seeing the struggle they go through, the treatment, the medication, the after care, the effect on all close friends and family made us want to find out more about this type of cancer and what we could do to help.

We are trying to raise as much as possible for the charity so if you can help support this event it would be much appreciated. Knowing that we are doing this for a worthy cause with your support, will motivate us to get through the 26.2miles to the finish line!

Myeloma is a type of blood cancer arising from abnormal plasma cells that are found in the bone marrow. It effects multiple places in the body, hence why it is sometimes referred to as ‘multiple myeloma’. Upon research, we discovered Myeloma UK. This is a UK based charity that has raised awareness of myeloma, funded pioneering research, and helped vital new treatments reach patients across the country. 

Here is a snippet of what they do: 

• Accelerate work on earlier detection and diagnosis to make the greatest impact on the length and quality of life for myeloma patients and those with related condition

• Drive scientific breakthrough into the cause and treatment of myeloma and related conditions to increase patient survival and improve patient experience

• Partner with patients to understand and meet their needs and build equal care for all
