Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The 24-hour WSM Grand Pier Relay was set-up as a one-off, to raise money towards creating a training facility. Due to its popularity, there was a demand for a regular event, so this is now the 6th running! We have funded the facility-build in 2015, and also in 2018 the pole vault/ high jump area. We now look towards Phase 3, and a roof over the whole area, creating a unique training environment.
We also make a significant donation to the local Childrens Hospice South West, who I support whenever I can. We estimate around £5000 has been raised for them in the previous 2 events. Minimum 20% of money raised will be handed over to the Hospice.
The previous 5 events have seen me not only organising, but also working for the whole 24 hours (including during the grim night shift - no sleep), ensuring the flame keeps moving, and supporting everyone else who is involved. We believe nearly 1000 children have taken part so far, along with their families. A total of around £50,000 has been raised, and personally I estimate that I have run around 190 miles in total (peaking at 42 miles for the 2016 event!)
A hard-core event that deserves support I believe!
