Story
In loving memory of my late mother I will be running the Liverpool Rock n Roll Marathon on the 24th of October 2021. She sadly passed away suffering from a brain tumour on 26th of February 2011 (she managed to hold out till my 21st birthday!) With a marathon being the pinnacle of running I will be training to run the distance of 26.2 miles in four hours or less. If I have even a fraction of the strength and courage of my mum did then this should be achievable. If there's a run worthy of holding tribute then this is it.
In the past few years I got into running to help with my fitness and mental well being, I've even taken part in a few 10k races! For me running is similiar to getting through hard times in life, even when you're fully down and out and exhausted it's your mental attitude that carries you through to the finish.
My mum spent her final days in Marie Curie. Whilst it was upsetting to see her in there, I believe there is no where more suitable to provide the care and support they did for my mum and our family. I think it's a great idea raising money for charities and it's something my mum would have been proud of, especially a charity so close to home.
My mum was a loving wife to my dad, a devoted mother, a dear sister, sister in law, auntie and friend to many. She meant so much to so many people and whilst she is far from forgotten, I hope this encourages those who knew her to spend time to remember her for the great person she was.
Thankyou for taking the time to read my story and any donation and support will be greatly appreciated.
