Story

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I’m Chris and I’m from Seaham, County Durham.

10 years ago I was injured by an IED explosion and small arms fire in Sangin, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Despite suffering almost lethal wounds and being under fire from enemy insurgents my life was saved by my brothers of 1st Platoon, A Coy, 3rd Battalion, The Rifles. I continued to serve in the British Army for several years after injury, with postings in Edinburgh, Kenya, Tanzania, and RMAS; but was later medically discharged and better able to pursue other ambitions.

This is a small anniversary fundraiser to show my gratitude to the highly professional 2009-2010 Medical Emergency Response Team, Ward S4 Selly Oak/QE Hospital Staff, and of course the friends who helped me back up again. Since my time in the army I’ve become an athlete, league race driver, BPA licensed skydiver, and more recently qualified as a helicopter pilot. These opportunities wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and bravery of others.

To mark the occasion I’m riding/camping my motorcycle on the famous Land’s End – John O Groats UK lap round trip!

  • The journey sticks to to A, B, and off- road
    travelling where possible.
  • All required provisions will be carried on the
    motorcycle.
  • Repairs must be self-sufficient.
  • All rest must be wild camping outdoors.

All money raised through this endeavour will be given directly
to the amazing Great Ormond Street children’s charity. Get your wallet out for the kids or I’ll hound you for days,  possibly even camp in your garden until you chip in the cost of a coffee. Thanks for reading and have an amazing 2020.

Probably lost somewhere and hoping the storm stops,

Chris
