Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Earlier this year, a work colleague Lee, told me about his child that was seriously ill and how he and his family had to spend many months at Great Ormond Street Hospital, by his side. As a dad of three, I can’t begin to image how stressful that must have been for Lee and his family.
Lee told me about Make-A-Wish foundation and how they helped pay for a once in a lifetime trip to Lapland. It was an absolutely wonderful experience, bringing them all so much light and joy and hope for the future. It was just what they needed.
I love running and have completed a few marathons over the years but never gone beyond the 26.2 mile marathon distance. I was thinking about a new fund raising challenge this year and at the same time, Lee told me about his son so I decided to give an Ultra Marathon a go!
On 27 May I will be running the London 2 Brighton Ultra Marathon Challenge. It is 62.14miles or 100km, starting in Richmond and finishing in Brighton. I am hoping to complete it in 12-14 hours and raise at least £1000 for Make-A-Wish® UK.
Your money creates life-changing wishes that revive the childhood that critical illness takes away, bringing light and joy at the darkest of times for a child and their loved ones. But right now, there are 60,000 children in the UK living with a critical condition, and they don’t have the resources to be that light for everyone. Your generous support will help them step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.
Please give however much you can. Every penny will count to give those children the once in a lifetime experience.
With love and thanks,
Chris
