Story
312km. 5,000 metres of climbing. Must be completed within 14 hours. The Mallorca 312 this 30th April is the longest, most demanding and challenging 1day cycling event in the European calendar. I'll be on the starting line for my 2nd time, having last completed it in 2017 when it took me 13 hours and 18 mins. I'm both looking forward to a beautiful ride around the Balearic island of Mallorca and fearful of just how brutal I know it will be...
By 2025 it is predicted over a million people in the UK will be living with dementia in the UK. It doesn't discriminate by rich or poor, gender, ethnicity or nationality, or even age - younger people are being diagnosed with early onset dementia. And many of us have 1st hand experience of the emotional, mental and financial impact it has on the lives of carers.
That's why I'm raising money for Dementia UK. They support in many ways, including providing free specialist dementia nursing care ("Admiral Nurses"). Continually supported and developed by Dementia UK, they provide life-changing support for families affected by all forms of dementia – including Alzheimer’s disease.
