Hartlepool Special Needs Support
Group was established in 1989 and over the years they have become recognised as a specialist provider of services in their
field. The young people who attend have an enhanced quality of life, grow in
confidence and are gaining experiences upon which they can build.
The Group have their own building
where there is support and information sessions for parents and carers,
singalong and singsong sessions for carer babies and toddlers. They also run
children’s fun groups, a youth club, get together club, drama group, fun
sessions (circus tricks, Superhero Magic, Face Painting). Members have their
own parties, especially at Christmas when Santa has his own Grotto in the main
hall. The group has its own sensory room.
Part of the service is to raise
public awareness and change perceptions about disability by encouraging
inclusive activities through the taking part in activities set in the public
domain.
Volunteers work hard not only working
with the young people, but also raising funds to finance the many activities.
This year has been exceptionally challenging with the amazing work they do in supporting the young people they work with. Not only have the young people suffered in not being able to use the group, the group have really struggled with the normal fundraising they do. So these coming months are even more important.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
