Story
I will be running the 2021 London Marathon for Guts UK in memory of Munashe Grey - who sadly passed away on April 17th 2021 at the age of 24, following his brave battle with a rare form of stomach cancer. Munashe's death came just 5 months after diagnosis back in December 2020, in which he left behind his family, loving girlfriend and many close friends. Although physical contact with Munashe was ultimately limited throughout his battle due to COVID-19, I was one of many who was fortunate to share some great memories with him throughout his life.
I originally applied to run this Marathon whilst Munashe was still here with us all - in hope that he'd be able to attend. Nonetheless, I know he'll be there in spirit and this run is dedicated to him.
I feel honored to have been selected by Guts UK to run for their team of five this October. Guts UK is the only UK charity funding research into the digestive system from top to tail; the gut, liver and pancreas. Since 1971 Guts UK have funded almost 300 projects and invested nearly £16 million pounds into medical research that leads to better diagnoses and treatments for the millions of people who, like us, don’t have the luxury of taking our guts for granted. Their research will hopefully lead to earlier diagnoses, kinder treatments and ultimately, a cure.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will contribute to a profoundly great cause.
