Team: Remembering Robert Stella

In memory of Robert Stella

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This page is for our friend and housemate Robert Stella who tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer on 5th January 2014 at the age of 26.

In memory of him myself and 8 friends are undertaking the 3 Peaks Challenge. This involves us climbing the highest mountain in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon), all within a 24 hours. This will see us walk over 27 miles and climb 3000 metres.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all forms of cancer. Only 3% of sufferers will survive for 5 years. This horrible statistic is worsened by the fact that only 1.6% of the UK cancer research budget is dedicated to Pancreatic Cancer research.

We all feel that this needs to change, and hopefully our climb will not only raise much needed money but also raise awareness and hopefully inspire others to raise money to beat this horrible disease and give other people a fighting chance!
