I have been involved with The Yala Fund for about three years, and believe that Jon Ashworth is doing a great job in Sri Lanka.  I have known his family for 15 years, although he only forsook his senior position on The Times and initiated this project after the thusami in 2004. In particular, I sponsor a child called Dilmi, who is now 11 years old, and writes (occasionally) great letters. However, this is a small fund, much remains to be done, and it takes both time and money to do it.
