Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

Hi Everyone,

Chris is running the Great North Run 2018 for Sands (stillbirth & neonatal death charity) in memory of our Beautiful Nephew William Stewart Fraser.

Michelle and Stewart have shared why fundraising for Sands is so important to our family.

"On Friday 19th January 2018 our beautiful baby boy William Stewart Fraser entered this world sleeping peacefully. He was born in The Willow Room at NSECH which is a purpose-built room for families affected by stillbirth, neonatal death, miscarriage and termination due to fetal abnormality. Following his birth, we were given equipment to make priceless memories with Will which we will treasure forever and the gift of time due to a specialised moses basket designed to keep him cool. All of this was provided by Teardrop (an affiliation of Sands) and their support to this day on a personal level has been invaluable. We will never be able to thank them enough for all that they provided for ourselves, Will and Ellie but we can support them in raising money to ensure they can continue to support families in the heartbreaking and cruel situation that we faced."

We aim to raise £450 which will contribute towards providing cuddle cots and other supplies such as clothes, blankets, memory boxes, teddy bears etc in Will's name which we know from our experience will mean the world to another family.

Sands is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. They operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

We hope to raise funds to ensure other parents going through similar circumstances to our family, receive the same help and support from this fantastic charity.
