I first got interested in volunteering in Rwanda in 2010 when I learned about the horrific genocide in 1994 and the lasting effects of this on the communities of Rwanda. For various reasons I still haven't managed to go but I am determined to make 2012 the year that this finally happens!
In the next few months I aim to raise all the money required for going on this life changing trip through this page. I don't know what kind of stops there will be on this road yet bar a marathon (or two!) and some concerts with my drum pupils from Dundee Drum Academy, but I will continue to come up with ways of fundraising and if you have any suggestions of your own I would love to hear from you.
I will be working with Dramatic Need running some music workshops for underprivileged children in Rwanda. Bringing arts to communities like these can play a very important role in the rebuilding of people's lives, and if I could even contribute the smallest amount of change, then I would be very proud of my work in Rwanda.
