Fundraising for SANE

  • Event: Morocco - Sahara Trek

We support those affected by mental illness to change mental health for good

Charity Registration No. 296572

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I am going to be doing a 9 day charity trek through the Sahara on behalf of Sane. The trek involves around 40 hours of walking through a variety of different terrains - each with their own challenges. You can see the itinerary here: http://www.discoveradventure.com/UserFiles/image/trips/Sahara_trek/itinerary.pdf

Sane is a charity dedicated to mental health issues.

Sane runs SaneLine - a helpline that provides support and information for people with mental health problems. This includes talking about issues like depression, feeling suicidal, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, support for carers, and so on. Sane also promotes mental health issues through the media - and funds research into mental health. More information on Sane can be found at http://www.sane.org.uk

In my opinion, mental health is given far too little importance by the government and funding bodies. Sane is currently struggling financially and has recently reduced the hours it provides helpline support each day from 10 hours down to 5 hours. This has significantly reduced the amount of support it can provide.

I take the raising of money for Sane very seriously, and as you can see below, have made a sizeable contribution myself. This covers the travel side of the trek as well as an additional donation that will directly benefit Sane. By paying for the travel part myself it means that, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you and any donation you make funds Sane and not the trek itself.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: SANE will receive your money faster.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Chris Jack
