Story

Hello,

Thank you so much for visiting my page and helping me raise as much money as possible for the Woodlands Hospice.

Over the years I have been very lucky to be involved with many charities and help raise vital funds. I feel adding the woodlands to the charities I help is an absolute privilege for me so after 6 years not being on the ice, I feel it's time to dust the skates off and get back on it and raise money for a wonderful charity.

In 2003 I went on a trip to the ice rink and instantly fell in love with skating and from then I continued with it. I use to love rollerblading and I remember my Nan buying me my first pair of rollerblades and my mum wasn't too thrilled..... because she thought she would be spending more time in A&E with me, so when my Nan decided to buy me ice skates I was absolutely delighted!

In 2005 my passion in skating grew and I became obsessed with it and I was always finding my weekends at the rink. Over the years I have been very lucky to of continued my skating, watch the best people train and also of known Torvill and Dean who will always been the main inspirations of my passion with ice skating.

Unfortunately I lost all my confidence in ice skating and I haven't made an attempt to go back on the ice. In 2011 my Nan passed away from lung cancer. She was always my big supporter when I was always on the ice and we had an unbreakable bond so when she passed away I lost so much of myself. To add to my heartache just a few months apart my bestest friend passed away. I definitely gave up on life but thankfully with the amazing support from a breavement service I was able to except moving on and continuing with my life.....thats what I did!

Sadly over the years I have also had to battle with my health and sadly the 4 years I haven't been well I lost so much confidence in myself and it was sad for me to see what I use to love doing was something I felt I couldn't do anymore......up until now!! Recently I have excepted that my conditions are now part of me but I'm not ready to just give up especially when I see so many people go through the devastating journey of having a terminal illness.....in my eyes those people's are inspirations!

I've had the pleasure to visit the Woodlands hospice on a few occasions and the hospice is just special. I have no personal experience of having anyone at Woodlands but I feel it will be a great honour for me to help raise some funds. I love raising money for different charities so I'm thrilled to add the hospice to the list.

Biggest thank you!!

Christine❤
