Network for Africa works with local NGOs in sub-Saharan Africa to help survivors of conflict or genocide and their families overcome trauma and rebuild their lives through access to mental health care and livelihoods support.

Story

"Network for Africa has been working with genocide orphans in Rwanda since 2004, teaching English literacy, business and enterprise, and IT.

Today 150 students a year are enrolled at the Rwanda Multi Learning Centre. They learn to write a business plan, they are given a small loan to start a venture, and they compete to achieve the best result. They are also taught how to write a CV and a job application, and how to sit an interview. The Learning Centre also includes a music centre where students learn piano, guitar, voice and saxophone, as well as music theory.

The students are of all ages and abilities, and are taught by four teachers. Many of them walk 15 km a day on an empty stomach to attend lessons. When not in classes at the Learning Centre, they work on building sites or in the fields to get by.

Please help Network for Africa to offer its unique training to more survivors of the Rwandan genocide who are keen to start their own businesses and rebuild their lives."
