Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 15 th August 2017 I was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called Polycythemia Vera ( a slow growing blood cancer) This disorder usually affects 1: 100,000 people over the age of 60 , 2 people in 10 million under the age of 20 and pretty unheard of under 16 , I guess I was unlucky I was 14! I have had 4 small strokes ( TIAs) and thankfully recovered well from these. I have had a few more bumps in the road along the way. I am currently on crutches following a spontaneous bleed into my knee caused by my abnormal blood. I go to Addenbrookes hospital children's Haematology / oncology unit for treatment once a month. This treatment is a Venesection where they remove a unit of blood. I am on weekly injections called interferon to slow down abnormal cell growth. I am so grateful for the amazing support we have had from friends and family , and the first class medical and nursing care I receive. I am so grateful I am living a normal life ( new normal) and feel lucky compared to some young people who we have met in hospital who undergo chemo treatment. CLICSARGENT ( young lives V Cancer) give both emotional and financial support to families and is a support these children and families cannot do without. I also want to raise awareness and money to go towards this amazing charity. Thank you all in advance for any contribution you can make to support me. Love Conor, Danny, Christine and Kacey Xxxx
