I'm running the 2024 London Marathon for Team Breathe!

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Many of you may already know, our daughter suffers from asthma quite severely, and frequently ends up being admitted to hospital during, or after, an attack. After every attack it is difficult to regulate her breathing again, and she ends up being hooked up to a nebuliser for 3 or more days. Like most asthmatics, she's required to carry her inhalers everywhere she goes, due to her asthma having many triggers. Sports days, socialising with friends and sleepovers cause huge amounts of anxiety, as these are times when we're not physically with her, living with the 'what if...?' demons. Every cough and chest infection puts us on edge, adding massive amounts of stress and worry, trying everything in our power to keep her breathing steady and regulated. On top of this, she has to take tablets each night to keep her airways open whilst she sleeps. As you can imagine, these have been, and still are, scary times and I would give anything for her asthma to just disappear! Our daughter constantly questions "why me?" and gets extremely frustrated when her asthma tries to limit what she does, affecting her confidence and self esteem. She has constantly battled with this through her junior years. At 14 years of age, we are very proud of her determination to live the life she wants, trying not to be restricted by breathing difficulties. However, the asthma sometimes has other ideas and let's her down! Therefore, by running the marathon I want to show her that people support her fight, raising money to aid much needed resources, medical care and research. I can only hope I can show her the same amount of strength and resilience of running the marathon as she does to fighting her asthma.
Doing it for you my lovely, strong girl!❤🏃♀️
1 in 5 of us will have a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute.I'm running The London Marathon 2023 for Asthma + Lung UK. Theyre the only UK charity that fights for everyones right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UKs nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
