This September I will be joining a team of 41 Christie fundraisers on a 3 day trek through the Mont Blanc region of the Alps.

Funds raised from this event will support the redevelopment of
the new CT department at our main Christie hospital site in South Manchester.

I have been chair at The Christie for five years now. I am proud and privileged to support the staff of the hospital, which offers world class cancer services and is involved in leading ground breaking cancer research which will bring new breakthroughs and hope for our patients and their families, now and in the future.

All of our patients will need CT scans. There are many reasons why this area needs charitable support: the current CT waiting area is no longer able to accommodate all of our patients and relatives and it’s often difficult to find space for those patients arriving in wheelchairs, due to the cramped environment. There is no private, dedicated space for patients to speak with their radiographer prior to the scans taking place and the changing facilities are located on one of the main corridors which runs through the department.

We are hoping to redesign and reconfigure the area. As well as making the most of the latest technology, we also want to ensure it is patient-friendly, private, less clinical and a more comfortable, dignified place for all patients to visit at the start of their journey at The Christie.
