Story

Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan Cancer Support is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right right there with you. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.

Over my lifetime cancer has touched my life so many times.  Seeing the distress of the diagnosis spreading so far, through the family, friends and colleagues is an emotional rollercoaster.  As an audience we have no power in the outcome but maybe we can help by supporting the experts who are there from the diagnosis throughout.
It breaks my heart every time I hear that someone has lost their battle, when I meet their parents, spouse, children or friends.  To see and hear their pain, who could help feeling guilty that we still have no cure.

In the last 12 months alone this cruel disease has impacted me and so many people I care about. We lost a dear friend, who was loved by so many.  I have friends who are currently fighting with cancer, or those they love are.  They have the strength of their friends and family, and the support of the wonderful charity ‘Macmillan’.

I am unable to run a marathon or climb a mountain due to medical reasons.  However what I do have is compassion and ‘hair’, lots of it.  As you may all know I have a huge amount of hair which could make a considerable difference to young people who are affected by cancer.  On the 19th February 2019, around 12” of my hair will be cut and donated to ‘The Little Princess Trust’ where it will be made in to a wig for a child who has lost their hair due to cancer treatment.  All sponsorship money raised will go to Macmillan.

My hair will be chopped by my friend, who is also a hairdresser (thankfully), who sadly lost her dad to this disease a few years ago.  No doubt we will shed a tear or two in the process of the chop, but raise a glass of wine after to remember those we have lost.

No matter how small a donation we give, every little helps towards fighting this cruel disease and eventually to finding a cure!

I would like to pass on my sincerest thanks for taking the time to read my story and helping to support me and such a worthy cause!
