London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
I ran the London Marathon 30 years ago (the year I turned 30) and vowed I would never run that far again (I haven’t)..then my daughter, not a keen runner, in fact not even a runner said 'mum why don't you & I run the 2020 London marathon when I'll be 25 and you'll be 60'. mmhh I gave it some (a lot) of thought and said okay, lets apply - but here’s the thing is I got a place and she didn't!
Well 2020 (& 2021) came & went with the pandemic putting paid to one & an altercation with a car the other. So, I now find myself nearer 63 than 60 with the training that little more exhausting BUT with my lovely daughter & gorgeous future son in law as training buddies much more fun (and, as our pacemaker, B’s legs an enjoyable distraction) 🫢
I’m guessing most of you reading this will have been touched in some way (and if you haven't probably will be) in knowing someone affected by a life limiting illness; many a lot younger than 60. As I write this I am fit & healthy so although I blame my daughter for 'getting me signed up' I'm happy she did (I think).
Although I've always run to keep in shape, both physically & mentally I'm a plodder & a lazy runner so I'm finding the training tiring & exhilarating in equal measure.
for those of you who have already supported me, thank you from me &, more importantly Farleigh. For those who haven’t, why? any amount would be wonderful and gratefully accepted by Farleigh and the people who pass through it's doors (or Farleigh passing through their front door) so so much more.
finally, please please remember to tick gift aid so we can get that little bit extra from the government.
Thank you 🙏 😘
