St Martin’s has been serving London for centuries. We are known and loved for our inspiring services and enlightened thinking, beautiful music and for our compassion for those on the edge of society. Our commitment to be here for everyone who needs us is unwavering.

Story

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

The Building Futures Endowment Fund (BFEF), for which I act as trustee, enables Saint Martin in the Fields, a very well know church located on Trafalgar Square in the heart of London, to serve the diverse communities of London – including some of the poorest in the country – and to reach far beyond its walls.

Saint Martin’s operates Connection, one of the busiest homeless day centers in the UK, with 200 people a day using the day centre and up to 40 people each evening at the night shelter.  Saint Martin’s is also a unique cultural center with 150,000 people attending 350 concerts per year, making it the busiest classical music venue in the UK.  Saint Martin’s is the birth place of the world famous Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields.  Finally, Saint Martin’s is an active church welcoming people from around the world to attend worship.  All in all 750,000 people come through the doors of St Martin’s annually, and this is causing immense strains on the building.  The BFEF will help in preserving the building and all that is achieved there.

Despite being a Royal Parish Church, Saint Martin’s receives no donations form the Crown Estate, nor from the government, and has to rely solely on its own means to sustain itself.  The campaign will seek to raise GBP4.5 million in the coming years, and has already received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and some wealthy donors.  But sadly, it is not enough!  This is why I am asking for your support.

Through Just Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to BFEF.  Just Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.  I aim to raise GBP25,000, so I really appreciate your support and thank you for any donations, however small or large.
