Story
My name is Chris, i work as a wholetime firefighter for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
I am going to trek the Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast path in aid of The Firefighters Charity.
The Coast to Coast path is a 182-mile unofficial and mostly unsignposted long-distance footpath in Northern England.
The start point is St Bees in Cumbria and the path terminates at Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire.
Devised by Alfred Wainwright, it passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park.
I will be wild camping along the way and will complete the trek solo.
I have chosen to raise money for The Firefighters Charity due to the amazing work that they do every single day.
The support The Firefighters Charity offers the fire service community is needed more than ever and I hope by me challenging myself, it will inspire others to set their own challenges no matter how big or small.
My previous experience of The Firefighters Charity was from a treatment point of view.
I injured my ankle and the support and treatment they offered me helped me recover both physically and mentally from my injury and the time off work.
We all have struggled during the pandemic and The Firefighters Charity is no exception. This is my small way of helping them support others.
