Story
So I, along with a team of others, will be dusting off my boots, with very little preparation to complete the 25 mile Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. The aim is to raise as much money as we can to provide the Hull & East Yorkshire Eye Hospital with a Retcam to save children's eyesight.
A Retcam is a specialised camera that allows images to be taken of the backs of children's eyes to diagnose a range of eye problems including Retinoptherapy in premature babies, Retinoblastoma (eye cancer), 'shaken' babies or any child too young to sit in an adult camera. Retcam is essential in the diagnosis and management of children's eye disease.
Friends of mine have a personal interest in this project to raise £105,000 for this equipment as their 4 year old granddaughter has a rare eye disease which unfortunately has left her blind in one eye and with reduced vision in the other. A Retcam was vital in diagnosing and planning treatment. We now want other children in our area to benefit by having local access to a Retcam.
