Story
I first became involved with Home-Start as a family visitor in 2000. I did not know that it was only a baby of three years of age at the time. Over the next seven years, I was assigned to three families and saw first-hand how meaningful the support of visitors is. I then became a trustee responsible for fundraising for a few years. Since ceasing to be a trustee I have continued to give support. It remains my number one charity and it is abundantly clear that it is needed now more than ever.
I realise that a 25 km cycle does not seem like much but I am also celebrating being in good shape having undergone treatment for both prostate cancer and muscle-invasive bladder cancer. From where I was physically 12 months ago, being able to tackle this is something I am proud of.
