We raise funds to help streptococcal virus research

Story

In May I will be running the Liverpool Marathon in memory of Chris Salmon. I'd like to raise money for the foundation set up in his name as I'm sure all the Calday boys and teachers will always remember the moment they were sadly told that Chris had lost his life at the young age of just 15 years, from a streptococcal virus and pneumonia. I know it is something that will always stick with me and helps to put things into perspective. To all those who did not know Chris, please visit the Chrstopher Salmon Foundation page to learn a bit about him and the foundation.

Any money donated to the charity in Chris' name is used to fund research into the streptococcal virus to help prevent other families experiencing what Chris' family has gone through. And secondly the money is used to help fund educational projects to encourage students with their work. More can be learnt about this on the foundation page.   http://www.chrissalmon.org.uk/default.aspx

Finally, it would have been Chris' 21st birthday in April 2014, so family and friends are working hard to raise as much money as possible to allow the foundation to donate to Meningitis Now and the UK Sepsis trust, as both conduct research into the condition that affected Chris. So it is a perfect time to support this foundation!

Many thanks for your interest, all support is appreciated :)

About the charity

The charity has two aims, firstly to raise funds to help pay for some research into the streptococcal virus that cruelly robbed Chris of his young life, in the hope that in future no other family has to go through the heartbreak we have. Secondly to fund educational projects e.g annual poetry comp.
