Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

In late 2016 we had the joy (and fear) of discovering we were pregnant with our first child. The excitement of telling family and friends that we'd been blessed with our first child was truly wonderful. Then in early 2017 Katie had a miscarriage.

The emotional and physical toll of realising that our baby was gone was so very painful. Our first thoughts being; Why had this happened? What had we done? But as Christians we cling to the hope that one day we will meet them in heaven, this said it doesn't take away the anguish we felt and still feel.

Since our miscarriage we have spoken to family and friends who have gone through the very same pain of losing a child and have been able to share our journey with them. We have discovered that so many people go through this suffering with little support. Because of this we want to take this opportunity to publicise and support the work of SANDS. Because of our close knit community we had so many people around us to pray with, talk to and bring us food. Not everyone does and this is where SANDS is so helpful. They offer people someone to process it with, to get advice and learn how to move forward.

We would love you to support SANDS as Katie and I embark on our first Half Marathon as this is a charity close to our heart!
