The Play Barn Project is a remarkable project to raise money for a sterile barn for children recovering from cancer. After chemotherapy, the bodies immune system is very weak and the chances of catching common colds and other secondary illnesses is high. In most cases it is not the cancer that kills the children but other infections that they pick up as their immune system is not strong enough to fight. The idea of the play barn is to allow children a place to recover, within a sterile environment, whilst allowing them an opportunity to lead a relative normal life. The barn will be built in Hertfordshire in 2015.

Equally important to me is raising money and awareness for EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) which is a connective tissue disorder. My nephew (Rudi) has EDS; it is a rare, uncurable syndrome and the charity is relatively small and research is key to everything they do. Their slogan is 'making the invisible, visible'.
