Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my 2023 Justgiving page.

The picture is as I finished, soaking wet- although I didn't really 'finish' the whole run. 8 weeks after my hip replacement walking the first 3 miles and the last mile was in itself an achievement.

I intended 2022 to be my last, and it probably was, but  maybe I might  have just one more go, if it's a nice day and I can keep actively fit. I never thought I'd be able to do it when I started in 2006, but thanks to RNIB encouragement back then I did and haven't  missed one since.

Assuming I could stagger to the start, I'd  look forward to reaching South Shields, eventually and still on my feet. I'd probably go over 4 hours again, and would be resigned to that. I once harboured hopes of breaking the 2:30 barrier, but each year got harder.

All charities need help more than ever at this time, so I hope any of my supporters who find this will feel able to contribute towards this worthy cause.

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.

JustGiving  will send your money directly to RNIB and ensure Gift Aid is reclaimed on eligible donations by UK taxpayers.
