We provide practical and emotional support to help them recover from their ordeals
Story
So, what's 'The Lap'? And how can you help?
Well, it's a gruelling, yet stunning (I'm told) 47 mile [75 km] trail ultra marathon around Lake Windermere, featuring 2,500m of ascent. Participants - including me! - have 24 hours to complete the circuit, or retire. My training has recently included Grafham Water (14km, ascent 95m), the Boston [Lincs.] marathon (26 miles, ascent 8m (yes, 8)) and Huntingdon ultra marathon (30 miles, ascent 166m), so this is more than a step up. I've done the training, but I'm still pretty nervous!
But my self-inflicted ordeal will be nothing compared to what some children experience in their lives. I would be delighted if you would support me by making a contribution to Embrace, a national charity that works with law enforcement agencies and safeguarding professionals to support children, young people and families who are victims of serious crime.
Please give what you can - whether it's £4.70, £47 or, for any recent lottery winners out there, something bigger. Your money will make a big difference to their work.
Embrace Child Victims of Crime (CVOC) is the only national children's charity that is solely focused on helping young victims of crime to recover from their ordeals.
We provide practical and emotional support up to the age of 18 years.
