Story
I am fighting in July for Ultra MMA to raise money for Cancer Research, my mother succumbed to the terrible disease last year 18/03/2022 after a short but well fought 6 month battle with stage 4 bowel cancer, my Mum was a selfless lady working hard her whole life for the benefit of others looking after her dad every single day from the age of 13 when her mother died to cancer too, raising me my sister and my brother while running her own business in which she semi retired from in 2018 but was still running all the way up to the day of her death. My mum was excited for retirement to do things with my father that they had always planned and worked hard their whole lives unfortunately time didn’t allow this although in her final years she managed to get to France (her favourite holiday destination) conquer Ben Nevis and a handful more trips and weekends here and there but throughout this time she was also helping her dads battle with cancer too looking after him every single day.
My Mum was the healthiest person I’ve ever met always looking after her body in every way possible, she found enjoyment in researching all the weird and wonderful ways to be as healthy as possible and often helped friends and family with ailments she had knowledge about, whenever anything felt amiss in her body she would get it checked out at the doctors immediately but unfortunately when it came to the cancer it was misdiagnosed by the doctors and by the time it was diagnosed it was too late.
This has given me the ethos to take risks in life you can work hard and he as healthy as possible but you never know what is around the corner for you, I have always wanted to have a fight in MMA being a big UFC fan and I can’t think of a better cause to do it for. I know she will be in my corner on fight night and I’ll train hard to do her proud.
Since my Mums death I’ve done the 100 press-ups for 30 day challenge last March and my sister has completed 100 miles in a month of walking I hope this can add to our family tally of money raised.
Love you mum 👸 👑 ❤️
