50KM in 50 hours (5km run every 5 hours) · 26 February 2021

The Ted Senior Foundation was set up after Ted Senior (aged 22) took his own life. He was a medical student following his dreams. The premise of the service will be to train individuals in universities and local schools sports teams in mental health first aid. We also work with The Support after Suicide Partnership.

Story

I am going to run 5km, every 5 hours starting at Friday 26th February at 5PM, until I finish 50KM at approximately 2:30pm Sunday 28th February. I'll be running through the night for the two days to try and raise money for two charities that mean a lot to me; Ted Senior Foundation and Crisis. Please donate to either/of of these great charities (Crisis link: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ChrisSumnerSmith)

The Ted Senior Foundation (TSF) has been set up in memory of a friend of mine who took his own life in 2018, to help with those struggling with mental health, particularly at university. They work to challenge the stigma around suicide and mental illness as well as providing a support networks of trained individuals in sports clubs in UK universities.

I am also raising money for Crisis (https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ChrisSumnerSmith) to help tackle the ever growing problem of homelessness in the UK. Crisis help those people who are homeless find housing, employment and opportunities, but they also address the causes of homelessness in the first place. Campaigning to make realistic policy changes that could help end homelessness.

And yes for any pedants, it's not actually 50 hours, it will be approximately 45 hours, 25 minutes.
