At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Taking my mother to a care home for the first time was one of the most difficult things I have had to do. Effectively having her locked up so that she could not come to harm as she was walking the roads in the middle of the night. My dad was at his whits end with worry as she could not be reasoned with, not mum as we knew her.

It really is a living death that mum seems unaware of but is even harder on those of us left behind in limbo.

Whilst the care home do an admirable job in ensuring mum is cared for as well as possible, it is really not a situation that I wish anyone to have to experience.

The desire is that by research, inroads can be made in conquering this disease so that others can avoid this horrible plight.

Please give what you can.
