In the words of Financial Advisor Chris Fenton’s son, Arley, our fundraising aim is “to stop children suffering and to help children survive”. In January 2020, Arley’s best friend was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 6. Arley was there from the start, visiting the hospital and watching his dear friend start his brave battle. Covid hit and the boys were separated even further, but their friendship prevailed, and they continued to Facetime and stay in contact as much as they could. July 2021 came around and just as the family hoped the boys could reunite, little Arley was diagnosed with TALL (T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia) aged 8. Arley started treatment on 16th July. In September, Arley turned 9 and when asked what he wanted to do for his birthday, he chose a sponsored walk for CCLG. Despite being in the thick of his own treatment plan, Arley raised over £13,000 for his 5k walk to help raise awareness of children with cancer and leukaemia. Inspired by Arley’s courage and humility, we are keen to continue in his drive to raise funds for CCLG who aim to deepen understanding and foster collaborations to support some of the most innovative and ground-breaking research into childhood cancer.
