Story
In August (7th – 18th) this year I am cycling from John O’Groats to Lands’ End (Jogle) with an old friend Bob Paterson. Trev Amos is providing all the backup support. The journey will mark the loss of Bob’s son Dale and the day we are scheduled to arrive at Lands’ End will be the 10th anniversary of his passing. Dale was 13.
I have decided to use the journey to raise money for Rush Common School, Abingdon, Oxon.
My three children attended Rush Common Primary School, and I am currently a Director of the school, and Chair of the Community Committee.
My fund raising aims are quite clear, to raise a minimum of £17,500 towards the restoration of an outdoor teaching / contemplative area with seating, staging for performance and sensory / musical equipment. An area that can be used by pupils, staff and parents / carers.
Bob is raising money for The Kingfisher School, Abingdon a school for pupils and students aged 2 - 19 who need a very special and individual education. His aim is to raise enough money to purchase equipment that allows users to control computers and communication programmes through eye movement.
