Carol, Linda & Sam's 20 for 20 challenge

20 for 20 for AMMF · 17 September 2020
Hi, I'm Carol, and I've set this fundraising page up with my old school chums, Linda and Sam, to raise some much needed money for a small and specialised cancer charity called AMMF. Linda, Sam and I met a little while ago, aged 11 years old. Since then, we have shared the best of memories and also been through tough times together. In May 2019, my lovely mum, Janet, sadly passed away after a five month battle with a rare cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Then, by a strange and awful coincidence, the same rare cancer took Linda's equally lovely mum, Sue, almost exactly a year on this May, during the extra difficult lockdown period.
Linda and I were both heartbroken to lose our mums, and Sam, who already knew what this felt like, has been there with us, and for us. We all now want to do something to raise money for the only charity in the UK, AMMF, who are dedicated to tackling this devastating cancer. So, from 20 September, we'll be doing a 20-themed challenge (some fun, some a little more hard work!), each day for 20 days.
Cholangiocarcinoma is not only rare but very difficult to diagnose early, so by the time it is diagnosed it is often too advanced for surgery, which is unfortunately the only potential cure at the moment. Worryingly, the incidence and death rates of this cancer are also increasing worldwide and across all age groups. The cause of this ongoing increase is currently unknown and much more research is desperately needed. AMMF are dedicated to raising awareness and providing information on Cholangiocarcinoma. They are also supporting research into its causes and ways to diagnose the disease earlier and treat it effectively.
If you can, please support our '20 for 20' challenge and help us raise some money to help AMMF do their stuff. And, in memory of our mums, Janet and Sue. Thank you!
Carol, Linda and Sam.
