Abseil in Croke Park on World Sight Day 2019 · 10 October 2019 ·
On Thursday 10 October, World Sight Day, we are going to great heights to raise funds to give the gift of sight to people in some of the world's poorest countries. We will be abseiling 150 feet from the top of the Hogan Stand, in Croke Park to raise funds so we can save and protect sight! And we would hugely appreciate it if you could support us!
For adults living in some of the poorest parts of the world, conditions such as cataract, and diseases like trachoma and river blindness can not only deprive them of their sight. They can also deprive them of their independence, and their ability to earn a living and feed their families
Having just returned from Sierra Leone to see some of the work in action, I was yet again blown away by the Sightsavers staff and medical staff we met with, who are passionately committed to ensuring that people do not have to go blind needlessly.
We met with people whose lives had been turned upside down after losing their sight, but then shared with them the joy when their bandages were removed following their operation, and they could see their loved ones faces again. The memories from this visit will stay with me forever.
This World Sight Day, you can help us save and protect sight among some of the most marginalised people in the world. Please consider donating to my page.
