We provide support and research to improve the lives of those affected by Cavernoma - a lesion in the brain or spine made up of abnormal blood vessels. 1 in 600 people in the UK have a Cavernoma and the condition can be genetic. They can cause strokes, seizures, and other neurological deficits.

Story

The Cavernoma Society has been set up by those with cavernoma to help those affected by it. We are a volunteer-run charity supporting friends, carers, family, and patients affected by cavernoma. This rare neurological condition affects 1 in 600 and it's our mission to provide support and research into the condition, thus improving lives.

Our lives changed back in June 2019. I was sat at my desk at work and received a call from Jerry's boss saying they were waiting for an ambulance as they believed he was having a Stroke, not sure what really went through my head but got in the car and drove to be with him, after a long time of being dismissed and told it was stress he was diagnosed with having an inoperable Brain stem Cavernoma. This causes him to have seizures, problems with mobility, speech, constant headaches and has also made his immune system weak,

We have been so lucky to have The Cavernoma Society help us with understanding the condition as well as practical help and counselling as well as finding some wonderful new friends. It's not just a condition that affects adults it also affects children.

During January I aim to walk and cycle for 100 miles to raise money for The Cavernoma Society. Any support, however small, will be massively appreciated by us all.
