Spring is in the air at the Church of the Holy Cross and in a pocket-sized flower bed of just two square meters, usually the destination of last Christmas' poinsettias, Palermo's first sustainability concept of City Forest was developed to become a microcosm paradise for nature. The project is also the first of its kind in a church yard within the Diocese in Europe, Church of England. Donations will help Holy Cross Palermo promote the City Forest concept to increase awareness on "building nature rather than destroying it", and funds will be used to buy on a regular basis the bird food and new plants which will be given to the local community and visitors. The City Forest will be officially opened with a blessing ceremony on Sunday the 18th of April 2021 in conjunction with Earth Day on the 22nd of April.

And yet, this is a Diocese of the Church of England.
