City Hospice Fundraisers take on the "Take a Walk in My Shoes" to support their front-line colleagues.

Daisy Magill Fundraising and Events Coordinator explains:

We have decided to take part in this two week challenge to raise vital funds for City Hospice. Like all charities the pandemic has had a huge effect on the way we deliver our services and care for our patients

Our clinical team have been amazing and have worked throughout the whole pandemic ensuring our patients and their families receive the vital care everyone facing a terminal or life limiting illness deserves.

This is a fantastic opportunity for us to team build whilst we are apart. We're all missing working in the office and having the "buzz" to motivate and inspire each other. It’s creating some friendly competition between us too! We know this lock down can be difficult for people, including us, so having a focus and ensuring we reach those 10,000 steps a day will get us through. It'll also ensure we get a good break from our laptops too!

I would recommend anyone to get involved with this. This is a brand-new virtual event so you can take part at your own pace and in your own time. Whether it’s walking the dog, walking up and down your stairs or doing laps of the garden. You can join as an individual, a couple, a team and split the steps between you. However you reach your goal we'll be extremely grateful for your support towards our Recovery Fund.

Everyday, our clinical team are out in the community and walk many miles while caring for patients and their families with cancer and other life limiting illnesses - they can walk up to 10,000 steps a day. 5 miles/8km."
