We raise funds and support projects to help disadvantaged children in Ukraine

Story

Our students from Photography and Creative Printmaking courses have collaborated to create a campaign which aims to raise money for the Ukrainian Aid appeal.

Michal and Natalia from Creative Industries both approached the Students' Association with their ambitious idea for the campaign as they felt a sense of urgency and solidarity with the on-going humanitarian crisis with the war in Ukraine.

The campaign aims to involve students across Creative Industries and the wider College. Students are invited to donate pieces of art-work by dropping their pieces into the Students' Association spaces at Riverside and City Campuses. The donated pieces of work will be sold at the suggested donation price between £5-£10 for students (depending on the art piece). Staff and external individuals are welcome to donate more - particularly if the piece is bigger and dependent on the medium. Please note this value system does not reflect the quality of all contributions.

Who can donate artwork?

Any current student at City of Glasgow College and any current staff member in the College are eligible to submit donations.

How to donate artwork

Students and staff can donate their work throughout May and June by dropping their art work in to City and Riverside Campuses. Please leave a Post-It note with your name and student number along with your art or let staff members in the SA know your student number/staff details and name.

What items should I donate?

The suggested theme for the exhibition is Peace. However, this is open to interpretation and submissions of previously completed work along with new work will be accepted.

A suggested list of items for donation is below:

  • Photography prints (framed and unframed)
  • Clay models and busts
  • Applied arts
  • Embroidery
  • Screen prints
  • Posters
  • Fine arts
  • Jewellery
  • Furniture
  • 3D model making
  • Digital pieces (which can be exhibited on campus via slideshow and on the Create for Ukraine website:)
  • Crafts
  • Textiles

Where will the artwork be exhibited/how can I pick up my work?

Art work is available to view online. Students and staff can view what is for sale using the website - please note this will be updated regularly and is still in progress: https://studentscreateforukraine.com/

When you have chosen a piece of work you would like to buy, please contact marj.clark@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk after donating and citysa@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk to confirm what piece you are buying so they can reserve it for you. Pieces will be picked up from the Students' Association at City Campus, or can be sent for collection at Riverside Campus if it is an easier pick up point for you.

You must keep a receipt of your donation (through email/screenshot) as proof of purchase before collecting your art.

Please note we are not able to send you art-work via post.

Can I donate without purchasing art-work?

Yes! If you would like to place a donation while works are still being collected - or with to donate without purchasing art-work - we would be delighted!

If you have any questions, please contact citysa@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk.
