Junior Lawyers Division - Expedition to India 2010 · 29 October 2010
UPDATE 2ND AUGUST 2010
Finally, the weather held out long enough for me to complete my skydive!! It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and something I will never forget. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
For those of you that have already donated - thank you! For those of you that haven't - what are you waiting for!!!
Photos to follow shortly.
UPDATE 20TH JULY 2010
Ok, so I have now rolled down a hill - great experience but not sure it is one I am going to repeat...
Next plan is the skydive - which has so far been cancelled twice due to the delights of UK weather. Next time planned for 1st August so wish me luck (and of course please sponsor me!!!)
I also have a raffle I have put together so please do buy as many tickets as you want!!
UPDATE 25TH JUNE 2010
At 7:30pm I will be rolling downhill in a giant inflatable hamster ball (Zorbing) in an attempt to persuade you to sponsor me for my expedition to India (pictures to follow). I am pretty nervous about raising all of the sponsorship I need to go but my fingers are crossed! I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that has sponsored me so far and if you are reading this and not yet sponsored me......
I have started training for the expedition meaning I am swimming over half a mile 3 days a week in the morning before work and also jogging on the other 2 days of the working week.
I am started to break in my new hiking boots for the trip and beginning to start putting together all the kit I need.
Next weekend I will be throwing myself out of an aeroplane at approx 13,000 feet - more details to follow!!!!
I am planning on swapping my suit for a sari on 29th October 2010 when I take part in a 12-man team of volunteers travelling to a small village in the Nilgiri Mountains of the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India on a charitable expedition in conjunction with the Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society and Raleigh International Trust.
The aim of the 16 day expedition is to install a bio-gas fuel plant system which will meet the village's need for:-
1. cooking fuel
2. an alternative source of energy to forest wood
3. an environmentally friendly form of waste disposal
4. high quality fertilizer
5. replenishing the fast decreasing resources of productive soils
As well as volunteering my time I also need to raise a minimum sum of £2,750 which is where all of you come in!!!!
I have various fund-raising schemes and plans and hopefully many of you will take part in these but I will also be relying on good old sponsorship!! My plans to persuade you to part with your hard earned cash include:-
- throwing myself out of an airplane at 15,000 feet
- cake sales
- raffles
- curry night
- begging
- pleading
Please keep an eye on my page for updates on all of these activities and please please do sponsor me (remembering to click on the gift aid box if you are a UK tax payer!! All donations are very gratefully received!!
