Thank you for visiting my page I know times are tough at the min but every single penny counts so please dig deep.... all sponsorship money is going to a charity that many people overlook.... MIND is a charity that helps people with mental health issues
I'm running this 1/2 marathon for my friend Lou.
Louise sadly passed away in January after suffering for a number of years with depression. Lou fought with everything she had for so long, and those lucky enough to have know her will know what a true shining star she was, there were no signs of her sadness because heart breakingly Lou put everyone else before herself so sadly she hid everything from the people who loved her and who could have helped her. So im running this for Lou firstly as its the last thing she would ever expect me to do as the only time she ever seen me run was for last orders at the bar :-) and secondly to try to raise awareness & to try to make a difference......
......I want to raise awareness of something that people see as a taboo subject. Depression is something that can affect anyone at any time in their life. The person who's smiling and laughing sat next to you at the bar, the biggest toughest lad on the rugby pitch, the most popular person at work, the person with the perfect family, the perfect house & the perfect job, there's no exceptions, whatever we may think it can touch us all in one way or another but with the right help & support people & families can get through It. Just because its not as easy to see or to fix as a broken leg doesnt mean we should ignore it.....
......I want to try and make a difference because sadly depression is real and its an illness, that left un-treated can have devastating consequences yet its still not spoken about, if we could all try to understand this illness and be more open and accepting then lives could be changed.....
.....So please help me to raise money for this charity, help me to add to the much needed funds they need to provide the right support to the people who need it and most importantly when they actually need it, also help to make this illness & its consequences known to all of us, particularly families and friends so that we can spot the signs early and give appropriate help.
Between us we could make a difference.
Thank you Clair xx
