National 3 Peaks Challenge · 7 May 2022
On the 7th May 2022 I will be attempting to complete the National 3 Peaks with my son Jaye. I had not intended to attempt this in aid of charity originally but in retrospect I've decided that it is too good an opportunity to raise money that is much needed and appreciated. Having seen first hand the tireless work and dedication of the volunteers at Pets as Therapy I am now hoping to support them. I'm sure it will also give me the extra incentive to continue when I need it most!
The challenge involves walking 24 miles of the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours and is not for the faint hearted. We will start in Scotland at Ben Nevis, which at, 1,344 metres, or 4,409 ft is the tallest of the three. From there we will drive south into the Lake District where we climb Scafell Pike (978 m, 3,209 ft). The final of the three is the Welsh mountain, Snowdon, standing at no less than 1,085 m, 3,560 ft.
Pets As Therapy is a national charity founded in 1983 by Lesley Scott-Ordish. Now like then, Pets As Therapy helps those in our communities most in need of animal companion therapy. Visiting volunteer teams and their behaviourally assessed PAT Dogs or Cats share the love of their own animal with people in hospitals, care homes, schools, prisons, day care centres and so many more establishments. The clients they visit benefit from the wonderful effect a companion animal brings, namely non-judgemental listening, tactile comfort & affection
