MAG - Battersea Power Station Abseil · 2 May 2010 ·

Every single day, 15 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Almost half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.

Story

Dear lovely generous friends,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my justgiving page.

On the 2nd of May this year, I am joining Mines Advisory Group's abseiling event at Battersea Power Station raising money for the vital work they do in clearing landmines in the world's most stricken war zones.

Dealing with landmines is a daunting and expensive task.  Mines affect civilians more than soldiers and are major obstacles to recovery long after people have forgotten the wars that spawned them.  Removing them is crucial to the growth of affected regions - to the lives of their inhabitants and to their ability to produce food from their land.

You can see the work that they do on www.maginternational.org

Any contribution you can make in sponsoring me would be hugely and gratefully appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Claire
