On Sunday 23rd of April 2023 I'm running the London Marathon for the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC). I hope you will consider sponsoring me in taking on 42.2 km (26.1 miles) for this worthy cause!Today there are an estimated 44,000 blind and partially sighted children in England and Wales. Each day, four more children will be diagnosed with sight loss.- Blind children are twice as likely to be bullied- One in three will suffer from depression and other mental health issues- 90% will never have a long-term job- Two thirds of blind people are living on or below the poverty line- Most will never have a meaningful relationshipRSBC help blind children to realise their potential. They run a family support service, working with families to help provide the best possible environment for their child to grow and thrive. They also help blind children to develop confidence and independence through a range of programmes and activities, building amazing friendships.

I work with Jess whose child is visually impaired and as he’s getting older things are becoming harder and harder and I see first hand the struggles they face.  This charity not only helps the children but gives vital support for their families too, which is needed more than ever.

Times are tough, I know, but if you can forgo that takeaway coffee, meal, bottle of wine for one weekend and donate what you would have spent, you’d be making a world of difference and also be giving me the encouragement I need to get me round.  I’m ending the decade of my forties with what will be my 10th marathon and most probably my slowest but that doesn’t matter, it’s all about raising money for a great cause.
