Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Darrell I first met when I started work for Treloar college in 2006 (a college supporting young people with disabilities) My first year there I was his teaching assistant. It was very obvious to see that he had an incredible gift at getting the best out of his students. He truly cared and was very passionate about his work. I definitely settled into my new job really quickly as he made lesson time interesting to teach and so much fun! At the end of my first day of working there he asked me where I lived in Newcastle and also told me his partner came from Newcastle. I went on to tell him where and to which he replied that his partner also came from the same area. It turned out to be one of my primary school friends, infact my best friend from primary school and we had lost touch. We all then became very good friends.

Darrell passed away this year with esophagus cancer. I am doing this walk with Darrell's partner, Caroline, in memory of Darrell and to raise as much money as we can for such a fantastic charity. We are off back to Newcastle to walk the hadrians wall walk, 27 miles in a day.

I was so lucky to have met such a wonderful wise man as Darrell and to reunite with such a wonderful friend as Caroline. Her strength I admire, she too is such a wise and beautiful person.
