Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is my ninth Edinburgh Marathon every year I tell myself I am going to retire but it never happens and I now have the desire to get to number 10. I have been training hard throughout the year and fortunately have had no major injuries. This year I have done the Edinburgh to Lasswade 10 miles, Kilomathon 26.2 KM and this Saturday I will be doing the Edinburgh to North Berwick Road Race 20 miles. Apart from that I have been trying to do about another 50 miles a week training runs, going to the gym, attempting to ski and a bit of cycling so hopefully I am fit. I comleted the Kilomathon in 2hrs 15 mins and hope to complete the marathon in around 3 hours 45 mins if all goes to plan.
I completed the Edinburgh to North Berwick road race in 2hrs 50 mins it was a good run but it was very hot and humid. I have now cut back on the running and I am cycling and going to the gym instead. I will do a couple of short runs this week and hopefully I will be prepared for Sunday crossing my fingers that it is not too hot.
SUNDAY 22 MAY MARATHON DAY
It was not too hot a bit windy at the end. I completed the race in 3 hrs 46 mins and 02 secs. I was going realy well but in hindsight too fast my legs began to hurt at about 17 miles which forced me to slow down. The last 5 miles were horrendous I just felt absolutely drained but I managed to crawl over the line. Felt tired this afternoon and it took me ages to do anything. Did manage a 30 minute walk with the dog but at snails space.
The good news is thanks to all the support from my friends I have reached my £500 target. At 25 miles I promised myself I would retire but this evening I am already planning my tenth marathon next year.
I do think it is good to raise some money for charity and this year I am running for Breast Cancer Care . I do hope you will be able to sponsor me for a very worthwhile cause.
