My mum had unusual symptoms for a while by the time she got a diagnosis of MND she already required a wheelchair, this was in November 2017 she was petrified by what was happening to her body.
This disease can be very cruel and was very hard hitting for my mum and was torturous to see. She sadly lost this hard battle in April 2018 and by this stage had lost the ability to move, eat, speak, and write. She had no means of communicating.
My mum was an absolute ray of sunshine always full of chat and laughter, she loved company. She was Independent and the kindest person and for this to be the last stages in her life was so cruel.
I wouldn’t want anyone to suffer in this way, we need faster diagnosis, better treatments and a cure, until then we need better comfort and for people not to be scared in the last stages of there life.
People will be suffering even more at the moment with restrictions due to Covid-19, so every penny counts to work towards a cure and treatment for mnd.
