This fundraising campaign will see friends and colleagues of the late Professor John Peterson traverse 500 miles (and maybe 500 more) to support postgraduate student learning.

Story

As part of the Run Your Red Sox Off for John Peterson fundraising campaign, I'm pledging to run 50 miles this month (October 2020).

John was one of my PhD examiners, was on the hiring committee when I got my job at the University of Edinburgh, made me a CD when I started work (old pals will know how much this means to me!), made my kids feel included and special at staff parties, and enlivened every staff meeting – he is much missed.

He was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, so collectively, as John's friends and colleagues, we aim to traverse 500 miles (and possibly 500 more) to raise £5,000 to support a range of PhD studentships in the School of Social and Political Science, with particular focus on PhD study in areas linked to Johns scholarly expertise, which included US-European relations, EU policy, US foreign policy and international trade.

I'd really appreciate it if you donate to my JustGiving page today, and make the pain and blisters worth it!

Thank you, Claire.
