Claire's Virtual Everest Climb

Cancer is the biggest mountain most people will have to face
in their lifetime, sadly some people don’t conquer their mountain.
I have decided to climb a mountain – Everest - in memory of our lovely friend Julie Painter who recently lost her fight leaving behind a loving husband and daughter.
In her last days Julie and her family were cared for by the heroes that work at The Hospice of St Francis… their care was first rate during these difficult times and allowed Emily, Adam and even dog Charlie to say goodbye.
Obviously with current travel restrictions and my absolute
lack of fitness I won’t actually be climbing Everest! I will be doing it
virtually with The Conqueror Events.
I am going to start my climb in February and as there are 28
days in February I have set the target of raising £2,800 to help make sure The Hospice of St Francis can help more families say goodbye to their loved ones in the best possible way. Any donation small or large is very very welcome, you can keep up with my progress on this page or on Facebook… thank you all in advance.
THE CHALLENGE
The Mount Everest Virtual Challenge takes you through an
incredible 40miles (64 km) journey to the summit of the highest peak in the world.
Each time you complete a distance-based exercise such as running, walking, cycling, swimming, etc you advance along with the map of Mount Everest
Virtually Travel to Mount Everest
Our mobile app will map your progress on a virtual 40 mile (64 km) route to Mount Everest. Every time you add a workout, you also advance on the map.
Not only can you see your avatar and others on the map, but you can also explore your virtual surroundings on Street View as you approach the Everest Basecamp! Unfortunately, the ascend from
Basecamp to the top of the mountain doesn’t support Street View.
We will donate toward the planting of a tree for every 20% of
the challenge you complete. There’s no extra work or cost for you — just make sure you keep exercising!
By the end of the challenge, you will have planted 5 trees.
Imagine what we can achieve as a community! So far we have planted more than 450,000 trees since August 2020.
